“The state government will generate 150 MW of electricity in Goa by 2027. A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Indian Oil and a company in this regard,” said Dhavalikar.
Dhavalikar was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of a power substation at Saligao and to inaugurate the underground work of the existing overhead LT channels in Porvorim.
Others present on the occasion included Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, Deputy Speaker Joshua D’Souza, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Ferreira and others.
“The work to lay underground power lines is going on across the State. While this work is going on, the electricity rates may increase slightly in the future,” he said.
He said the power department has laid the foundation for works worth Rs 450 crore in Saligao and Porvorim, adding that the problem of electricity in Bardez will be permanently stopped with this new power substation at Saligao.
