State Govt advertised 4,300-odd posts in 8 months

The State government has been on a hiring spree with assembly elections only a few months away, having advertised 4,300-odd posts in various departments over the last eight months.

Since January 1, these 4,300-odd posts have been advertised for various departments including Health, Police, Goa Medical College, Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour, Electricity, Fire Services, Labour, Agriculture, Accounts and the State Registrar.

In some cases, the procedure for recruitment is in the final stages.

Besides these posts, there are some posts that have been filled through the direct recruitment process.

According to sources, most jobs on offer are in the police department. The 1,058 posts to be filled in the police department consists of police sub-inspectors (145), constables (913) and home guards (296).

Procedures to fill the 821 posts in the GMC have begun and they include multi-tasking staff, lower division clerks, stenographers, staff nurses, ANM and drivers.

The Electricity Department has advertised 243 posts, which include junior engineers, meter readers, linemen and lower division clerks.

The State Registrar’ has advertised to fill 154 posts which include karkuns, multi-tasking staff and inspectors.

Posts advertised in other departments included the Agriculture Department (132), IPHB (100) Accounts (109), Labour Department (91) and KTC (46).

There are around 20-30 posts advertised for the departments like Fisheries, River Navigation, Captain of Ports, Pollution Control Board, Food and Drugs Administration, Civil Supplies, Factories and Boilers, Governor’s Secretariat, Forest and Environment.

About 216 posts in the A and B categories are also being filled through the Goa Public Service Commission and these posts include professors in engineering colleges, executive officers, block development officers, sub-registrars, etc.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday launched the portal on the Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021.

“Glad to launch the online portal for ‘Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021’, which is aimed to provide a well-organised, transparent interface displaying data to all citizens, created for establishments to register themselves and the apprentice thereafter,” stated Sawant in his tweet, while announcing the launch of the portal.

The portal http://cmapprentice.gov.in will have all information about Goa Chief Minister ‘s Apprenticeship Training Scheme, 2021, besides facility for the registration of enterprises and establishments on the portal.

The “Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme, 2021” has been launched by government to promote apprenticeship training and to create a responsive atmosphere between private industry and youth in the State.

The Government has made a budgetary provision of Rs 5 crore to the scheme and aims to provide Rs 1,500 as monthly stipend to around 2,500 Goan youth who have 15 years of residence in Goa.

The scheme is being implemented by the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC).
