Stating that he is unaware of any Cabinet reshuffle, Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira clarified that his visit to Delhi was to attend the two-day maritime conclave.

“I am not aware of any Cabinet reshuffle as nobody told me,” Sequeira replied when questioned by reporters about the same.

“My visit to Delhi was to attend the maritime conclave being the Minister of Ports. The CM was also supposed to attend but due to other commitments he could not. So I represented the government,” Sequeira informed.

The Minister further said that he also had meeting with the chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India with regards to renewal of the MoU, which has expired.

“The MoU was signed in 2018-19 and its validity was for 5 years. So we discussed on renewal of the same but for a couple of issues, we have decided to have another sitting,” Sequeira stated while adding that the MoU pertains to powers of the Captain of Ports and the powers of the Inland Waterways Authority of India.

“The river nationalisation comes under Inland Waterways Authority but 90% of the powers will rest with the State. The MoU clearly defines our powers and their powers,” Sequeira said.
