The Congress has threatened to gherao the Registrar of the Farmagudi-based Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) if it does not include 15 years domicile and knowledge of Konkani and Marathi compulsory for the 21 posts advertised by the Institute.
Three-time Congress Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco said the Manohar Parrikar-led government which swears by Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn should step in immediately and stop the recruitment of the non-teaching staff at the IIT, Farmagudi and mete out justice for local Goan youth eligible for the jobs.
The IIT, Farmagudi had invited applications from Indian nationals for the non-teaching posts, including Assistant Registrar (3), library officer (1), medical officer (1), junior superintendent (5), system administrator (1), junior engineer (2), junior staff nurse (1), junior assistant (5), junior lab assistant (2). "The advertisement for filling of these posts does not speak anything about the candidate's domicile nor the knowledge of Konkani and Marathi compulsory or desirable. This is not acceptable at all," Reginaldo told the media.
The Congress MLA has set a week's time for the IIT to withdraw the advertisement circular or has threatened to gherao the IIT Registrar or the head of the Institute. "The BJP have a very clear agenda to destroy Goa and make clear use of the guys who have spoken against them like their present alliance partners, the MGP, Goa Forward party, Rohan Khaunte, Govind Gawde. The IIT advertisement only goes to show that Goans are not even taken into consideration for such jobs," he lamented.
Reginaldo gave a call to Goans to wake up and not to allow another Goa Shipyard or the Shipbuilding Institute at Vasco where the Niz Goemkar has been slowly and gradually outnumbered.
"Where have the 50,000 jobs for Goans promised by the BJP government gone. Has it become a pied pipers dream. The future of Goa seems bleak," he questioned.
