A Thar SUV was gutted in a fire at Dattgad-Bethora in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to reports, the jeep belonging to Imran Salim Jalekar was parked in front of the house at about 9.30 pm on Monday.
At about 2 am, nearby residents woke up to the sound of a tyre bursting. The family tried to put out the fire using water but failed.
The fire also damaged the cables at a nearby electricity pole.
A fire brigade from the Ponda fire station was pressed into service, but the SUV was already destroyed in the fire.
It is suspected that the fire started due to a short circuit in the jeep.
