PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday reviewed the progress of its ambitious Swayampurna Goa initiative, a move that has benefited 3.14 lakh individuals across the state so far.
During the meeting, Sawant issued directions to the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), Health, and Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL) to ensure 100% coverage of their services and schemes by 2025. He stressed the importance of achieving complete outreach to all eligible persons thereby enhancing the efficiency of government programs.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of special drives conducted by various departments between January 1 and January 6, 2025, in 26 locations across Goa. These drives reached over 2,000 individuals, providing essential services such as health check-ups, distribution of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) cards, issuance of Smart Transit Cards, and assistance with WCD schemes, FSSAI, and Packers Registrations.
Another achievement discussed was the success of the ‘Vision for All’ initiative, which saw over 2 lakh students from Classes I to X in government and aided schools undergo eye screenings. The program provided free spectacles to 3,439 students, helping improve their vision and educational performance.
Feedback from Taluka Nodal Officers and Heads of Depts was gathered, and suggestions for refining the program were discussed. The CM emphasized the importance of collaboration and the continued success of Swayampurna Goa, which aims to foster self-reliance and bring holistic development to villages across the state.
