CANACONA
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar lauded the contribution of women towards cultural preservation as substantial and valuable, adding that a permanent platform should be created for them.
Tawadkar was speaking at Lata Mangeshkar Kalangan of Canacona after inaugurating the Fugdi and Dhalo Festival organised by the Department of Arts and Culture.
The Art and Culture Department has simultaneously organised the festival in all 12 talukas.
More than 90 women teams from Canacona and Quepem talukas participated in this Fugdi and Dhalo festival.
The opening ceremony of this festival was attended by the senior writer from Canacona Kamalakar Mhalshi, senior journalist and folk artist Ajit Painginkar, Director of Art and Culture Sagun Velip, Assistant Director Milind Mate, Deputy Director Anand Kavthankar.
The Director of Art and Culture Department, Sagun Velip, praised the women and appreciated their skills towards preserving and promoting culture.
