Planned facelift in city cost Rs 16 lakh

Thanks to an initiative by Margao Municipal Councillor Shagun Naik, as many as three beautification projects were inaugurated in the Comba Municipal ward on Tuesday.
The area around the Gomant Vidya Niketan in the heart of the commercial capital, has been beautified under the project in tune with the activities conducted by the city’s premiere cultural institution. A footpath resembled a piano, besides display of musical instruments have been executed as per the planned beautification.
Another project including beautification and installation of a wall tower have been taken up in the ward, A wall has also been given a facelift with a coat of paint and installing of iron grills to add to the aesthetics.
Launching the works in the presence of Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has said that funds to the tune of Rs 16 lakhs has been spent on the beautification work, excluding GST.
“These works have all been taken as part of the plan to beautify certain spots in the commercial capital to give a face lift to the city”, he said, adding that 3-4 beautification projects, including the project near St Joseph Convent, Aquem has been completed under the beautification plan.
Ward Councilor Shagun Dada said the works have been carried out to add beauty to the public spaces in the ward.
