PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today suspended three staffers of North Goa District Hospital (NGDH) over misconduct.
The three included drivers Gurudas Pednekar and Subodh Naik, and LDC Yeshwant Gauthankar were suspended as part of efforts to improve hospital accountability, said Rane.
Rane conducted a surprise inspection at the hospital during which various actions were initiated.
“During my inspection at NGDH Mapusa, I identified key areas for improvement, leading to necessary upgrades in care, staffing, and facilities. Addressing concerns with accountability, three staff members have been suspended for misconduct. Every shortfall has been noted, and swift action will be taken to ensure the highest standards of healthcare for all,” Rane stated on X.
Post the inspection, Speaking to reporters,Health Minister informed that more suspensions are likely as staffers have been served with memos.
Further, Rane said that police complaints would he filed against private ambulance operators for allegedly conducting unauthorised business in the hospital premises.
Rane said he would urge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to expedite the replacement of the hospital’s non-functional CT scan machine.
