The noted comedian and mimicry artist in tiatr, Cyril Andrade passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness. Speaking to The Goan, Anthony Barbosa, the newly appointed president of the Tiatr Academy of Goa, paid tribute to the late Cyril Andrade, emphasising the significant loss to the Konkani tiatr community. “Cyril, fondly known as ‘Dotor’ was one of the finest and most dedicated tiatr artists. He excelled not only in acting on stage but also in social service and in the field of sports,” Barbosa remarked and described Cyril as a star in his own right, highlighting his kindness, jovial nature, and respectfulness. Based in Nuvem, Cyril was especially known for his comedic talent and mimicry that left a lasting impact on those who knew him.”

“Cyril was a good comedian and mimicry artist. Known as a very social, friendly, helpful and good-hearted person, Cyril’s passing away will create a vacuum in the tiatr world. He used to be available at one call, whenever anyone needed any support. He was close to my family,” shared tiatrist Rosefern.

Stating that Goans lost a great tiatrist and human being, tiatrist Irineu claimed, “It is very unfortunate and sad that Cyril left us. He was fondly called as ‘dotor’ for his service to football. Spectators used to cheer every time he was on the field to attend to injured players. During covid times, he helped a lot of people as he was working at the District Hospital in Margao.”

Tiatrist Ghanashyam Tari recalled Cyril as a wonderful person and a talented comedian. “It is a great loss to our tiatr fraternity. His memories will never fade from our memories,” said Tari.

Paying tribute to Cyril on behalf of the tiatrists and the audience, Menino de Bandar said, “Cyril was a very popular comedian, who made people laugh. He had also acted in many of my tiatrs. We have lost a good comedian. He was sick and suffered. We all will miss him, especially during football matches, as he was the first to rush to the field to offer first aid to the injured footballers.”

Tiatrist Pradeep Naik expressed his grief saying, “Cyril was a really good actor and as a human being he was down-to-earth person, with a very helpful nature. In the tiatr fraternity he was known as Dr Cyril because during covid he worked for a lot of patients and helped the needy people. We have lost not only a tiatrist, but a great personality of the tiatr family.”

Tiatrist Peter paid tribute to Cyril saying that a talented artist is gone and the tiatr world in Goa has lost a pillar. "Cyril was in our group. He never said no to anything. And we never saw him getting angry. He believed in discussing the issues. We had an understanding between us. He was family. It is a great loss to all of us."
