Konkani stage artists, musicians and people from all walks of life celebrated the Feast of St. Cecilia at the Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim on Tuesday.
Revered as the Patron Saint of Musicians, members of the Tiatr fraternity and musicians participated in the feast after a gap of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Parish Priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho was the main celebrant at the feast mass.
Noted tiatrist Roseferns expressed his satisfaction over the unity and togetherness displayed by members of the tiatr fraternity as they celebrated the feast.
"We have a new Committee in place. Many youngsters have come forward to take over the reigns. And we will all back the new generation to take the art forward," Roseferns said.
President of Konkani non-stop Tiatristanchi Saustha Arnold Costa echoed similar sentiments, saying many musicians, tiarists and artists have participated in the feast mass. He also thanked Fr Gabriel Coutinho for celebrating the mass.
Ben Evangelisto reminded that members of the tiatr fraternity and musicians have been celebrating the feast of St Cecilia for over 25 years now. “I am happy that a large number of people participated in the feast”, he said.
While wishing members of the tiatr fraternity a happy feast of St Cecilia, Lawry Travasso remembered tiatrists Mario Menezes and Comedian Selvy, who passed away this year.
Antonette de Maina, who joined the celebrations, extended her wishes to the musicians and members of the tiart fraternity. She remembered tiatr artists, Fr Neville Gracias, Mario Menezes and Comedian Selvy, who passed away this year.
