Tilak Maidan all decked up for 3-day public hearing

The authorities have made elaborate arrangement at Tilak Maidan Vasco to conduct the public hearing from April 26 to 28 for the proposed port expansion by Mormugao Port Trust (MPT).

A huge pandal has been erected at the ground for the people to attend the hearing and to voice their objections against handling of coal, dredging and other port-related expansion plans.
Expecting a large crowd, Vasco Police have also geared up to tackle any untoward and law and order situation during the hearing.   
NGO Goa Against Coal Pollution had deployed a vehicle to make announcement of the public hearing and urged the citizens to attend it in large numbers.   
The social media was also abuzz with the public hearing and urging the people to pass on the message to their other relatives and friends and raise their objections in a peaceful manner.   
Goa Against Coal Pollution also requested those attending the public hearing not to create any confusion and to place their objections in a peaceful manner.   
The local businessmen have also extended their support for the movement.   
Vasco Police have made additional arrangement of requesting additional police force to help them in securing the safety of the citizens and to avoid any law and order situation.   
When contacted, Vasco Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo said they are fully geared to tackle any law and order situation and have requested additional force from Indian Reserve Battalion and district police to handle the situation at the public hearing.
