VALPOI
The State government has approved the proposed Rs 1.83 crore underground cable project from the Valpoi power substation to the Dabos Water Project.
According to sources, water supply is frequently disrupted in Sattari taluka due to erratic power supply to the Dabose Water Project.
Trees have been falling on electricity poles and power lines which pass through forested areas, which has led to constant power failure and a shutdown of the water project.
There had been growing demands for underground cable in order to provide an uninterrupted power supply to the Dabose Water Project.
A proposal was then sent to the State government and it has now been approved.
When contacted, Electricity Department Assistant Engineer Deepak Gawas said the underground cables will be laid at a cost of around Rs 1.83 crore.
“Though the proposal has been approved, work is unlikely to start during the monsoon because the PWD will not allow the road to be broken for this purpose. If the PWD does give permission, we can start the work even during monsoon. Otherwise, this work will be started after the monsoon and then, there will be uninterrupted power supply to the Dabos Water Project,” said Gawas.
