Top priority for underground cabling in Aldona, says MLA

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira on Saturday said that work on underground power cabling in the constituency will be taken up on top priority.
Ferreira also inaugurated two new transformers at Podwal, Corjuem and Bela Flor, Ucassiam which are expected to give relief to local residents.
"Power Minister Sudhin Dhavalikar has assured me that underground cabling will be undertaken in Aldona on top priority. I will be having a meeting at Mapusa with him in this regard in the coming days," Ferreira said.
He also said that the proposal for underground cabling will be sent again for approval.
"The file for the underground cabling project for Aldona has been returned. We are submitting the proposal afresh. We plan to take up Bastora first and then Pomburpa in parts," he said.
He said the new transformer worth Rs 13.50 lakhs at Podwal will resolve issues of frequent power fluctuations and low voltage that would occur in this area.
"At Ucassaim, the 100kva transformer worth Rs 31 lakhs which has been commissioned today will benefit around 60-70 households. I am grateful to the power minister and chief electrical engineer Stephen Fernandes, who sanctioned the project," he said.
The MLA also inaugurated deweeding works of the Mapusa River near Bastora Menezes Lawns.
"The deweeding work will begin soon. I thank WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar for sanctioning the work, as well as the engineers concerned. I also thank Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the speed with which he has given directions and ensured that things are being done. If you can deliver promptly, people are happy. Works should not drag on for years together," Ferreira said.
He also attended a plant distribution event at Bandeshwar Mandap Bastora Bandh.
