Stating that the grievances of Dudhsagar Tour Operators Association (DTOA) had been resolved, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant late Saturday stated that the GTDC counter and online bookings would continue.
The chief minister also said the government had agreed to the demand of DTOA and would reduce the hiked tour rates by almost Rs 200. He also added that a tripartite agreement would be considered.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the delegation of DTOA at Ravindra Bhavan, Sakhali, chief minister said that the jeep operators had issues with the service providers, and added that they would be taken into confidence to decide the service provider.
Satisfied with these decisions, DTOA President Nilesh Velip and Secretary Nandesh Desai said tour operations would start from Sunday.
A tripartite agreement between Goa Forest Development Corporation, Tourism Development Corporation and DTOA will be considered to ensure smooth tour operations to the iconic waterfalls.
Speaking to reporters, Velip stated that one month has been given to work out the new system.
“We want a tripartite agreement between GFDC, GTDC and DTOA, to ensure that everything goes on smoothly,” said Velip.
Commenting on whether the chain hunger strike would be called off, Velip said they would meet the jeep operators on Sunday morning and present before them the outcome of the meeting.
“We cannot take a decision without consulting all jeep operators. We will start tour operations from Sunday and will try this system for one month and we will then go back to the CM to review this system,” Velip added.
