Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said the State government will start the tourism industry only after 100 per cent of Goans take the first dose of the Covid vaccination.

“Until we don’t complete the first dose of vaccination in the State, we have no intention of starting tourism in the State,” Sawant said.

The government has already set a target of completing 100 percent of the first dose of vaccination among the Goan population by July 30.

The CM further informed that the Tika Utsav 3.0 launched at various centres targeting youth between the age group of 18 and 44 has been receiving excellent response across the State.

“Our vaccination programmes have been getting encouraging response. We appeal to the people to come out and take the jabs,” he said.

Sawant said the members of the Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) had met him a few days back and placed some of their demands before the government.

“They want the tourism industry should be started. We are looking into the matter,” he said.

The TTAG managing committee on Tuesday had a lengthy discussion in a round table meeting with the CM, MLA and chairman GTDC, Managing director GTDC, Tourism Secretary, Director Tourism, Excise Commissioner and other officials.
