Goa’s tourism season officially kicked off with the arrival of two charter flights from Russia at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, on Wednesday morning.

The first Aeroflot flight arrived from Moscow with 210 passengers, followed by a second flight from Yekaterinburg carrying 139 passengers, scheduled for 9 am.

The chartered tourists were given a warm welcome with folk dances depicting Indian culture presented at the airport.

While welcoming the tourists, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the State government has been providing all kinds of facilities to tourists and emphasised the importance of safety of all tourists.

He advised local municipal councils and panchayats to address any inconveniences faced by tourists, promising that the Tourism Department would work to resolve these issues.

He informed that the Tourism Department is planning to provide changing rooms, toilets, parking and drinking water facilities along the coast from Pernem to Canacona for the benefit of tourists.

“A master plan has been prepared and work in this direction has also begun,” said Khaunte.
