OLD GOA
Tourists visiting Old Goa were left disappointed as the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral, and St Francis of Assisi Church were closed to the public following orders from the North Goa Collector.
The order specified that the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral would remain closed from 18th to 20th November. However, entry to the Church of St Francis of Assisi was also restricted, leaving visitors unable to explore any of the iconic heritage sites.
During a visit by The Goan, many tourists expressed their disappointment as they were only able to view the historic churches from outside. An ASI security guard confirmed that all three churches were off-limits for three days.
A police official explained that the closure was necessary to avoid disruptions to ongoing works in and around the church precincts.
