In yet another clash involving domestic tourists, two persons were injured when a group of tourists from Kalyan-Maharashtra clashed with security guards at Bamanwada-Candolim on Thursday night.
The incident took place at around 10 pm when a group of six youth from Kalyan had arrived on a holiday in the State.
The group had booked a villa in a hotel in Candolim, but they were unhappy with the villa and the hotel owner had refunded them the amount.
The tourists were then leaving the hotel when a hotel staff informed security guards that one of them had urinated in the hotel premises.
The security guards then confronted the tourist, Dheeraj Chaudhary, in the matter. This led to an argument and a fight between the two groups.
While one of the three security guards was accused of assaulting Chaudhary with a baton, the tourist is alleged to have thrown stones at the security guard. The other friends then rushed back to the aid of Chaudhary.
Chaudhary and a security guard, Gulzar Ali, were both injured in the fight and were moved to the GMC hospital at Bambolim. While Chaudhary was discharged from hospital on Friday morning, Ali is undergoing treatment.
Acting on counter complaints by Dheeraj’s brother, Neeraj, and the security guard, Gulzar Ali, Calangute police registered cases against the security guards Gulzar Ali, Mujabir Hussain and Suleman Rehman as well as the tourist, Dheeraj Chaudhary.
ASI Nareshkumar Salgaonkar is investigating the case under the supervision of Calangute PI Paresh Naik.
