Ruling BJP leaders led by newly-elected party president Damu Naik, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, party MLAs Digambar Kamat and Sankalp Amonkar bid bon voyage to the pilgrims heading to Maha Kumbh in government chartered train sponsored under the Social Welfare Department’s Dev Darshan Scheme.

Addressing the pilgrims just before the train departed from the Margao railway station on Thursday morning, State BJP President Damu Naik said the chartered train has been arranged by the government after taking into account their sentiments of people wishing to take part in the Maha Kumbh.

The Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai gave tips to the pilgrims on the to and fro journey and how they should manage themselves after they reach Prayagraj. While wishing them safe journey, the Minister urged the group leaders to take care of the pilgrims once the train chugs in at Prayagraj.

Margao MLA Digambar Kamat thanked the government for organising the pilgrimage for the people of Goa.

Around 1,300 pilgrims were scheduled to travel to Prayagraj by the chartered train.

AAP alleges bias in pilgrimage booking

AAP National Vice-President Siddesh Bhagat said while countless pilgrims eagerly await their chance to join this sacred gathering, they’re met with the ever-familiar sound of a busy signal. “It appears that only the privileged few, those cozy with the ruling MLAs, are getting through. This situation raises eyebrows and questions about fairness,” he said.

Bhagat added: “Shouldn’t every Hindu have an equal opportunity to experience this spiritual journey? It’s time for a level playing field, where all pilgrims can connect and partake in the Maha Kumbh.”

Bhagat has urged the authorities to ensure that the phone lines are open for all, not just a select few. “After all, spirituality should be accessible to everyone, not just to those with a direct line to power! Let’s make sure every voice is heard and every devotee gets their chance to join in this magnificent celebration of faith.”
