Two men were arrested by the Mapusa Police on charges of making derogatory remarks towards a woman and engaging in inappropriate behaviour in a public space.
The incident occurred after Poonam Ajay Pratapsingh (45) from Chembur, Mumbai, filed a complaint. She reported that the men made offensive comments and watched inappropriate videos on their phones, causing public distress. Nearby individuals intervened, restraining the men before handing them to the police.
The accused, identified as Rittal Birandar Shaw (31) of Jharkhand and Giriver Shuhtai Nirale (30) of Chhattisgarh, were arrested under Section 170 of the BNSS 2023 to prevent further disturbance.
Police confirmed the incident caused public alarm, and investigations are ongoing.
