DHS offers dialysis services at 14 centres: Dhume
The two-bedded dialysis unit inaugurated at the Carmona Sub Health centre on Sunday.

Director of Health Services Dr Vandana Dhume on Sunday said the Directorate of Health services is committed to provide uninterrupted dialysis services and high quality life sustaining dialysis treatment to all patients having kidney problems.
The Health Director was addressing the villagers of Carmona after the inauguration of a two-bedded dialysis unit at the Carmona Sub-health Centre in the presence of Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas, Carmona Sarpanch Sandra Fernandes and others.
Saying that lifestyle diseases and non-communicable diseases such as diabetics and hypertension are on the rise in the country, including Goa. Dr Vandana said the emerging situation definitely needed a solution since these diseases have an adverse impact on the kidneys.
Saying that the Directorate of Health Services is providing dialysis services at 14 centres across the state, with more than 1,000 patients availing the services, she said that patients can avail the services in private hospitals through the 16 empaneled hospital “The unique feature of the dialysis services is that the service is provided right at the Primary health centres, which are close to the community and is provided free of cost to the patients”, she added.
In his address, Benaulim MLA Venzy said this is the first time in Goa that a dialysis unit has been set up at the Sub Health centre at Carmona. “Nowhere in the entire state has a dialysis unit is set up at a sub health centre”, he said.
While thanking Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for expediting the entire process since he also holds the Education portfolio, Venzy expressed his gratitude to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for clear the dialysis unit at the Carmona health centre. “I had taken up the matter with the health officials soon after my election in 2022. Since then, the issue was raised by me with the government and on the floor of the house. I am happy that the proposal has finally become a reality”, he said.
The two-bedded dialysis unit will cater to eight patients from Carmona and neighbouring areas. It is expected to start functioning immediately.
