OLD GOA
The unique procession of tails or ‘Xempdeachem Pursanv’ (Procession of Tails), returned to full participation of devotees at the Se Cathedral, as Archbishop of Goa Filipe Neri Ferrao led the faithful in observing Good Friday.
This year, four Canons of the Cathedral Chapter participated in the procession, with their faces covered and wearing black cloaks which flow behind in the form of a tail.
The statue of Jesus in a coffin followed the procession, which went around the Church before being kept inside the Chapel of the Miraculous Cross.
Archbishop Ferrao prayed in Latin in front of the statue of Jesus with the participation of the Canons. After the prayers ended, the devotees were allowed to kiss the statue of Jesus.
