PANAJI: Goa NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar has confirmed that two Goans deported from the United States will arrive in Goa on Sunday.

"The flight carrying 119 deported Indian immigrants, including Goans, will land at Amritsar airport today. We will disclose further details once they reach Goa," Sawaikar stated.

The special flight, part of the US government's ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration, is expected to land at Amritsar International Airport tonight. Among the deportees, 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, three from Uttar Pradesh, two each from Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

This is the second such deportation in recent weeks, following a flight carrying 104 Indian immigrants that arrived at Amritsar last week. Another plane carrying deportees is expected to land tomorrow.
