Work on the damaged concrete railing at the Uskiniarik culvert at Cuncolim will commence no sooner than the government accords approval for the repair work amounting to around Rs 4 lakh.
A senior PWD, NH official informed that the PWD will not wait for the four-lane Navelim-Cuncolim four-lane work to start, but will take up the repair work on the culvert railing immediately.
“The PWD had prepared an estimate for the culvert repairs to the tune of Rs 4 lakh. The file had gone to the higher-ups for administrative and financial sanction,” the official said.
Saying the repair work on the culvert will take place no sooner than the government accords approval for the proposal, the official said the PWD will not wait for the work on the four-laning to start to repair the damaged culvert railing.
It is now a month and a half since the railing was damaged after a fish transporting truck had hit the concrete barrier before the vehicle plunged into the rivulet. The concrete barrier, however, is yet to be restored till date.
