A Vasco-based agent has been booked on charges of cheating the two Goans who were deported from the USA after attempting to illegally cross into the country.
Acting on a complaint from the youth, Vasco police have registered an FIR against Stanley George of Captain George Consultancy Services, an agency based in New Vaddem, Vasco, for allegedly cheating two victims of Rs 18.5 lakh under the pretext of securing them employment in the US.
In a police complaint filed on Monday, a youth from Sarzora alleged that between May 17, 2024 and January 20, 2025 at Vasco, Stanley George, without having a license from the Protector of Emigrants, Government of India, to recruit people for employment abroad, dishonestly induced him and received from him Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10.5 lakh from another youth from Panchwadi-Shiroda to provide them employment in USA in a hotel or restaurant.
The complainant stated that the recruitment agent had the knowledge that he would cause them wrongful loss, and further sent them to Mexico to illegally cross over into USA, where they were intercepted by the US Border officials and deported back to India, thereby cheating the complainant and the other youth to the tune of Rs 18.5 lakh.
Vasco Police registered an offence under 420 of IPC and Section 10 & 24 of The Emigration Act and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Priyanka Patil is leading the investigation under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
Despite efforts, Stanley George could not be contacted and sources said he was of station.
The two youth were part of a group of 119, who were deported from the US for illegal immigration.
They landed at Dabolim Airport on Sunday afternoon after flying from Amritsar, where they went through standard checks and documentation procedures.
