Rs 6L extorted on pretext of Police Constable job for son

In a case of alleged fraud, Vasco police have arrested a mother son duo Uma Patil and Shivam Patil, both residents of Zuari Complex, Baina for allegedly cheating a Ribandar based woman, Rashmi Vinod Chopdekar of Rs 6 lakhs. Vasco police have also seized vehicles belonging to the accused in the case.
The incident reportedly took place on 21st November 2021 at Vasco during which both the accused promised to secure a government job for her son but failed to fulfill their promise.
According to the complaint filed by Chopdekar, a housewife and a resident of Chimbel, Ribandar, the duo made her pay Rs 6 lakhs under the pretense of securing her son a position as a Police Constable in the Goa Police Department. However, after receiving the money, the accused allegedly neither provided her with the promised job nor returned the funds, amounting to dishonestly cheating her.
The offense has been registered under sections 420 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code and both the Mother son accused have been arrested. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Palto Carvalho of the Vasco police station under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and with the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam. In another development, Panaji police booked Deepashri Sawant aka Gawas for allegedly demanding Rs 10 L cash for providing a job of accountant in Directorate of Accounts.
