Vasco teen loses life in ghastly mishap, two others survive

In a tragic incident, a youth from Saibin Bhaat, Kharewado lost his life on Friendship Day while two of his friends survived a self-accident reported at Shantinagar late Saturday night.

According to information from Vasco police, the accident was reported at around 11.30 pm on Saturday. 

Three friends David D’Souza (20) who was driving, Saharsh Bhosale (24) and Sanjyot Borkar (19) all residents of Kharewado were in a Swift car (GA 01 E 6398) heading towards the airport side along the Shantinagar four-lane highway from Mangor. 

The vehicle was reportedly speeding when the driver suddenly lost control, veering off the highway. It then flew through the air, crashing into a railing of a house before falling from a significant height.

All the three were injured and the back side of the car was crushed due to the vertical fall. 

Locals in the area immediately removed the occupants from the mangled car by breaking open the doors. They also alerted the police and ambulance for medical help. The injured were shifted to the Chicalim Cottage Hospital and later referred to GMC Bambolim where Sanjyot was declared dead while Saharsh was admitted in ICU. The driver David was given treatment and later discharged. 

The body of the deceased was referred for post mortem and finally handed over to the family on Sunday. 

Vasco police have registered a case of unnatural death and PSI Archana Goankar is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and guidance of Mormugao DySP Sunita Sawant.
