Vasco’s iconic Vasco Residency, formerly known as the Tourist Hostel, which is managed by Goa Tourism Development Corporation will soon get a face lift

The prime property located in the heart of Vasco City for over four decades will soon get a lease of life and enhance the business activities further in the port town.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said he had been assured by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte that the project would be taken up soon.

“The Vasco Residency building is a very old structure and it has been operating for over four decades. The structure has been deteriorating over the years and we see that portions of ceiling have also fallen at times. The property is not fully functional and their hall is not operational today and it is sad to see that the complex situated in such a prime location in the heart of the city is in a bad shape,” said Salkar.

“We always wanted to re-develop the place and bring it back to its former glory. I placed a proposal before Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte to redevelop this prime property. Tourism activity has increased manifold at Baina beach with thousands of visitors and Vasco Residency can provide a very good facilities for these tourists if redeveloped,” said Salkar.

“Khaunte had assured to take up project on priority and instructed his officials to carry out an inspection and submit a report to him. He has now assured me that the Vasco Residency will be taken for redevelopment and I am confident that this project of redeveloping the Vasco Residency will be taken up very soon,” said Salkar.
