Residents of Cutbona, Carxetta, and Karay in Velim village have protested over severe water scarcity in recent days. Led by Sarpanch Veena Cardozo, they petitioned MLA Cruz Silva, urging immediate action. The residents highlighted that they were receiving insufficient water, even for basic needs like flushing toilets, and claimed the issue began when water was supplied to the Cutbona fishing jetty.
Cardozo stated that water pressure had been low since the government started supplying water to the jetty, and over the past five days, it had dwindled to a trickle. In response, the MLA and Junior Engineer (PWD) were invited to address the issue.
After hearing the complaints, MLA Cruz Silva directed the PWD JE to connect the water line supplying the residents to the Chinchinim water supply line to increase pressure. He gave the JE two days to complete the work and instructed the PWD to provide water tankers to the affected residents in the meantime. The MLA’s intervention aimed to alleviate the water crisis and restore normal supply to the village.
