As the demolition of the Panaji fish market nears, vendors are expressing concerns about the future of the chapel located inside the building. Fisherman Vicky Fernandes, who has overseen the chapel for more than 40 years, emphasised that neither the Mayor, the local MLA, nor other authorities have addressed the fate of the chapel, which is set to be demolished along with the unsafe market structure.
Fernandes highlighted that the cross inside the chapel is over 60 years old and raised concerns about the holy idols that will be affected by the demolition. He strongly urged authorities to not only consider the chapel's significance, as it holds masses but also to commit to rebuilding it after the demolition.
