Veteran actor and director Rajdeep Naik has joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Naik stated that this is because he believes truly in the Kejriwal model and feels it is the only alternative for Goa, according to a press note.
In the press note, AAP states that Naik was truly impressed by Kejriwal’s electricity and job guarantees. Looking at the present scenario of heightened unemployment and the pandemic effect on the livelihood of people, he decided that only AAP was the party that worked hard enough to help Goenkars.
Naik is a well-known artist of Goa, and a well-known theatre personality. Naik hails from Savoiverem Ponda, holds two master degrees to his credit. He entered the Konkani theatre at a very young age and then went on to producing tiatrs. He has many dramas to his credit for which have won him awards. His productions are very popular among the people of Goa and he has worked incollaboration with the Department of Art & Culture, Goa in organising ‘Natya Mahotsav’, states the press note.
In 2012, he was awarded the Yuva Srujan Puraskar by the Directorate of Art & Culture, Goa government. Rajdeep has made tremendous effort to promote and sustain the Goan culture and heritage through his performance and works of art. He was in the headlines sometime in the month of July, as he had criticised the present government wherein, they had announced a one-time settlement of Rs 10,000 as one-time financial assistance for artistes, as it was an insult to the community, states further the press note.
“I am happy to join AAP under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal. Over the past two years, Goa has suffered a lot due to the pandemic and related economic consequences. AAP is the only political party that has worked to help Goenkars during the pandemic,” stated Rajdeep.
Party slams Mapusa municipality for destroying trees, heritage bldgs
PANAJI: The AAP Goa convenor Rahul Mhambre has slammed the Mapusa municipality for ruthless actions towards iconic trees of Mapusa, according to a press note.
In the press note, Mhambre stated that the iconic trees instead of being transplanted or trimmed are directly being cut. Earlier this year, the municipality also destroyed a heritage building next to old municipal building in Mapusa and didn’t even consider saving it.
