Violations go unabated as tourists, hawkers make merry on Colva beach

MARGAO
The non-stop party, that started on Friday at the world famous Colva beach continued on New Year day as well, with booze flowing freely on the beach, with domestic tourists violating the ban on alcohol drinking on the beach with impunity.

In fact, liquor bottles were found strewn all over the Colva beach on Saturday after the midnight celebrations, ushering in the New Year.

A visit to the Colva beach on Saturday revealed that partying and consumption of alcohol  did not stop on the beach after it started since midnight. In fact, domestic tourists were caught having beer and hard liquor on the beach, with no authority around to curb the banned activity.

The garbage collectors were on the job throughout Saturday to lift away the trash and the liquor bottles from the beach. In fact, it took considerable time for the garbage collector to restore cleanliness of the beach.

Incidentally, the  migrant hawkers also made hay, taking advantage of the presence of thousands of domestic visitors on the world famous beach, indicating that warnings issued by the Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar against the illegal hawkers did not at all change the ground reality.
