V. M. Salgaocar College of Law (VMSCL), Miramar, inaugurated the 10th edition of its international dispute resolution competition, Lex Infinitum, on January 16 at the college Conference Hall. Chief Guest Dharmendra Sharma, IAS (Retd.), Chairperson of Goa RERA, shared insights on mediation techniques, emphasising persuasion over coercion and encouraging participants to excel.
The event featured dignitaries including Dr. Shaber Ali G. (Principal, VMSCL), Anthony E. Barretto (V. M. Salgaocar Corporation Pvt. Ltd.), Dr. Shruti Kamat Dalal (Director, Lex Infinitum), and student leaders Omkar S. Gaonkar and Tashina Zahra Pinto do Rosario. A montage reflecting Lex Infinitum’s 10-year journey set a nostalgic tone. Speeches highlighted the significance of mediation in family and consumer disputes and celebrated the college’s 50-year milestone.
The competition has attracted 22 negotiating teams and 12 mediators from institutions like NUS Singapore, APIIT Sri Lanka, and NALSAR Hyderabad. Renowned experts such as Claude Amar,Adeline Guilhurn, E. O. Mendes and Dr. Deevanshu Shrivastava will serve as assessors and resource persons for parallel Knowledge Sessions. The unveiling of trophies marked the event’s celebratory highlight.
