OLD GOA
The family that lost Maria Rodrigues (70) and her son Alfred Rodrigues (51) in a recent wall collapse in Mandur has received compensation from the government.
MLA Viresh Borkar told The Goan that the family has been paid a total of Rs 9 lakh. “Rs 4 lakh each was paid for the deaths of the mother and son, and Rs 1 lakh for the wall collapse under the Disaster Management Fund,” Borkar said.
An additional Rs 1 lakh will be given to the family from the CM’s Relief Fund. Regarding the rebuilding of the house, Borkar mentioned he has written to the PWD but has not received a response. “The CM assured me that the house would be rebuilt, but there is no official confirmation yet,” he said.
