Noted Konkani stage artist Wilson Mazarello has resigned from the primary membership of the Goa Su-Raj Party, even as he charged the party has been functioning without any transparency.

Mazarello, who was declared a candidate for the Velim seat by the party leadership before Mickky Pacheco and wife Viola joined the party, has since decided to contest the February 4 election as an Independent.
Briefing the media, Mazarello said though he was a life member of the GSRP and declared as a candidate for Velim, he has seen in recent times that the party has been functioning without any transparency. “Decisions are being taken relating to the candidates without consulting them. All promises made earlier for democratic processes have been thrown to the winds. It is hence not possible to function in a party, which does not consider the views of its life members and the general public,” he said.
Disclosing his plans to contest the coming election as an independent, Mazarello said he will work for the welfare of the youth, children, senior citizens and families. “What we need is happiness of the families, not only infrastructure.”
