In a vociferous Gram Sabha meeting, the villagers of Calangute voiced their strong objections to the newly introduced Section 39A and the amended Section 17(2) of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act.
The villagers called for the immediate withdrawal of these provisions, citing concerns over the potential impact on local governance and environmental sustainability.
A resident of Calangute, Premanand Diukar criticized the recent amendment introduced in the last assembly session. Diukar warned that this could drastically alter the village’s topography, allowing significant changes under the guise of error correction.
Local resident Augustino D’Costa echoed these concerns, calling for a discussion of the amendments within the panchayat.
