SANGUEM
A woman and her daughter were injured in a hit-and-run mishap on Monday after being struck by iron rods protruding from a tempo at Dandolem in Kevona-Rivona.
Lata Gaonkar (50) and her daughter Preeti (25) were travelling on their scooter when a tempo transporting iron rods was heading towards Neturlim.
On reaching Dandolem, the protruding rods reportedly hit the duo, causing them to lose balance and fall.
The tempo driver fled the scene, leaving the Gaonkars on the side of the main road. They remained there for some time until a passer-by noticed their injuries and alerted the 108 ambulance service.
Emergency medical personnel transported Preeti and Lata Gaonkar to the Primary Health Centre in Sanguem for necessary medical assistance.
Sanguem police are conducting investigations to trace the vehicle and book the driver for the hit-and-run incident.
