MAPUSA:
In a late-night operation, Anjuna Police arrested a woman for illegal possession of narcotic substances near a football ground in Arpora.
The accused, identified as Deepa Kadam (37) of Kurla-Maharashtra was found in possession of 8.45 grams of Methamphetamine, a banned psychotropic substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police sources, the arrest took place in the early hours of February 26 at around 3 am following a tip-off.
Kadam, who had been staying in Saligao was reportedly intercepted by law enforcement officers near the Arpora football ground, a known hotspot for nightlife and tourist activities.
Upon searching her belongings, the police recovered Methamphetamine worth approximately Rs 80,000.
The accused was immediately taken into custody, and a case was registered against her under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Officials stated that further investigations are underway.
