A tragic road accident near Titan Junction, Verna, has led to the death of a woman who succumbed to her injuries after receiving treatment at GMC Bambolim.
According to a complaint filed by Siddesh Dessai, Head Constable at Verna Police Station, the incident took place on 29 October at around 5:45 PM. Sumit, the driver of a Tata bus from Poriebhatt, Verna, who originally hails from V-Khaira, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, is accused of driving the bus recklessly. While travelling from IDC Verna towards Cortalim, the bus collided with a TVS Jupiter scooter near Titan Junction.
The scooter rider, identified as Suparna Gawas, a resident of Sancoale, Upasnagar, Zuarinagar, was travelling in the same direction when the bus allegedly hit her from behind. The impact caused her to fall onto the road, resulting in severe injuries. Despite medical treatment at GMC Bambolim, she tragically passed away on Sunday.
Verna Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS Act. The investigation is being carried out by PSI Ramchandra Naik, under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco and with the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
