The area outside the Aquem side of the Margao railway station came back to haunt the law enforcement agency as well as the powers that be after a 38-year-old woman was mercilessly beaten up by three persons late Monday night.
The woman who sustained grievous injuries on her hands and legs is now convalescing at the hospital.
Even as the incident again brought to the fore the lawlessness around the area outside the railway station, the Margao Police acted swiftly to nab two out of the three persons involved in the assault on the woman.
It could not be ascertained what caused the assault on the 38-year-old woman, but eyewitnesses told the media that the woman was attacked by the trio when she was carrying food for her child.
In her complaint, the victim Renuka Bahadur, a resident of Malbhat, near Apollo Victor Hospital Margao stated that late Monday night, opposite Mathura Bar near the Railway Station, the accused persons Sunil Singh, Sujeet Singh, both residents of a bar and another worker of the bar in question with their common intension assaulted her with fist blows, kicks, slaps and abused with filthy language.
She further alleged that one of the accused assaulted her with an iron rod causing grievous injuries on her right hand and forearm as the complainant questioned the accused persons regarding their dog barking at her and coming to attack her.
The police nabbed Sunil Singh and Sujeet Singh under section 326, 504 of the IPC.
