A woman from Karwar was rescued after mysteriously being spotted in an area between two segments of the grade separator of the flyover near the Dabolim Airport.

While many could not comprehend how a woman could climb a pillar to reach the area, some felt that she may have had plans to commit suicide. The woman was first spotted by taxi drivers who alerted the police and also the fire brigade.

Speaking to reporters, Fire Officer Chetan Honnaverkar said they got a call at 8.30 am saying that a woman was found on the pillar and may be attempting suicide

“We rushed to the site and immediately rescued the woman using a ladder. The woman claimed that she did not know how she reached there,” said Honnaverkar

The woman, later identified as Sneha Naik, said she was from Karwar.

“Someone brought me here saying that I will get work and then robbed me. I don’t have any money,” said Naik.

A taxi driver, Darshan Upaskar, said there is a manhole near the entry of the flyover that leads to the hollow area below.
