Canacona police have booked unknown labourers on charges of stealing sand from the beach and setting a fire on the beach, partially damaging the Turtle Nesting Site at Agonda.
According to Canacona police, South Goa Marine Range, Galgibag, Canacona, Range Forest Officer (RFO) Rajesh Naik, complained that on January 11, the labourers who are working for the owner of a shack in Agonda, committed theft of sand from Agonda Beach. The stolen sand from Agonda beach was used for the purpose of fitting tiles to the shack.
The labourers are also accused of having set fire to coconut leaves on Agonda beach, thereby partially damaging the Turtle Nesting Site.
Canacona Police have registered an offence under Sections 303 (2), 326(f) of BNS 2023, and Canacona PSI Ramdas Doifode is investigating the case.
