The Pad Yatra, started by activists Anthony D’Silva and Glen Cabral, from November 24 from Assolna reached Neura on Sunday covering around 40 kms in the four days. The yatra aims to highlight the construction of a bungalow in Old Goa heritage precinct.
On the fourth day, the yatra was started from Verna and wend its way through the villages of Cortalim, Agassaim and Neura, culminating at the panchayat ghar. Tomorrow will be the final day of the yatra and it will begin at 9 am from the Neura panchayat ghar and end at the site of the Old Goa bungalow.
Speaking to The Goan, Glen Cabral informed that they want to highlight that the issue is still alive.
“We are demanding justice and that is to see that the bungalow is razed to the ground at the earliest,” Cabral stated while adding that despite highlighting the various illegalities involved, the bungalow continues to stand tall.
D’Silva said that the whole idea behind the pad yatra is to highlight that justice is to be done in the issue. “We are not bothered about the technicality but rather we are demanding that justice be done,” D’Silva informed.
“The issue is a open and shut case but it is tangled in technicality, which should not happen as it will set a wrong precedence,” he added.
