Young talent shines at KA’s One-Act Play Competition

Kala Academy Goa has announced the results of its One-Act Play Competition for Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges, held in two categories – Marathi and Konkani.

The event was judged by Shri Shivpranav Alavani, Smt Gauri Kamat, and Shri Ishvar Vithoba Naik. The Academy congratulated all the winners and stated that the prize distribution ceremony would be announced later.  

In the Konkani category, Casador by Vidya Prabhodini College of Commerce & Education, Porvorim, won the first prize, followed by Ami Ashech by Satyavati Soiru Angle Higher Secondary School, Canacona, in second place, and Maranthav by P.E.S. Shri Ravi Naik College of Arts & Science, Farmagudi, in third.

A consolation prize was awarded to Ghuspagondhal by St Xavier’s College, Mapusa. Swastik Naik of Casador was named Best Male Actor, with Eldrick Rebelo of Maranthav securing second place. Rizel Fernandes (Ghuspagondhal) and Sanjana Naik (Casador) took first and second prizes, respectively, in the Best Female Actor category.  

Swastik Naik (Casador) also won Best Direction, while Kalidas Mhamal (Casador) received the Best Setting award. Additional honours included Best Lighting for Gorakshanath Rane (Ami Ashech), Best Background Music for Saidatta Varadkar (Casador), and Best Playwright for Swastik Naik (Casador).  

In the Marathi category, Mannequin by Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, clinched the first prize, with Chafi by St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, and Mudha by Dnyanprasarak Mandal’s College, Assagao, earning second and third places, respectively.

A consolation prize was awarded to Rang Andhala by Kala Academy’s College of Theatre Arts, Ponda. Ved Desai (Mannequin) was awarded Best Male Actor, while Priyanshu Londe (Chafi) came second.  

Anushka Jaan (Mannequin) and Riya Parte (Mudha) secured the top two spots in the Best Female Actor category. Gautam Damle (Mannequin) won Best Direction, and Rugved Naik (Mannequin) was awarded Best Setting.

Other awards included Best Lighting for Saeel Bandodkar (Mannequin), Best Background Music for Subhash Kamalkar (Mudha), and Best Playwright for Prasad Kalangutkar (Mudha).  

The competition celebrated creativity and talent, showcasing exceptional performances and teamwork from young participants across Goa. Kala Academy commended all contributors for their efforts in making the event a success.
