The warring Varca-based Alemao clan suffered a setback in the Benaulim bye-poll with the independents backed by the warring family members biting the dust in the election.

The father-son duo of Churchill and Savio Alemao had backed Grrayfans Fernandes, while Warren Alemao had rallied behind Congress-turned-Independent Royla Fernandes. Differences between the father-son duo and Warren had come out in the open after the later made certain remarks directed at the father-son duo of Churchil and Savio.
The Churchill-Savio duo and Warren Alemao had set their eyes on 2027 Assembly election to contest from Benaulim. In fact, Churchill had announced on more than one occasion that son Savio will make his debut in electoral politics from Benaulim in the 2027 Assembly election.
Not to lag behind, Warren too had unveiled his plans for 2027. In fact, Warren has kicked started his campaign for Benaulim since the last one year by taking up activities across the constituency.
