PORVORIM

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira has called upon the Porvorim Welfare Foundation (PWF) to launch a campaign and visit every household in the Porvorim constituency to understand and resolve the problems of the people.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the PWF to launch the Jan Sampark Yatra in the Porvorim constituency.

Those present on this occasion were PWF Chairman Vikas Prabhu Desai, Mahesh Mahambre, Congress leaders Girish Chodankar, Elvis Gomes, Amarnath Panjikar, Sanjeev Naik, Sunil Kavthankar, and a group

of locals.

Ferreira stated that people at the grassroots suffer silently, and due to fear of politicians, they hesitate to voice their grievances.

“In Goa, revenge politics is common, and hence, members of PWF should instil confidence in the downtrodden that they will redress their grievances if they come to power,” said Ferreira.

Girish Chodankar stated that social work and politics are interconnected fields that can mutually benefit each other in several ways.

“Social work focuses on addressing social problems and improving individual and community well-being. Politics provides the frameworks to analyse how policies affect these social issues. The chairman of PWF has entered politics through social work. Hence, he will be in a better position to understand the problems of the people and redress their grievances,” said Chodankar.

“PWF should continue to address the grievances of the people and should not work for votes alone. If people are satisfied, they will elect their candidate in the 2027 assembly elections.”

Vikas Prabhu Desai recalled having started the PWF with only 15 members, and within two years, the membership rose to 350.

“He has entered politics to solve the problems of the people and develop the Porvorim constituency. He has launched the Jan Sampark Yatra, which will visit each and every household to understand and address their problems,” said Desai.

Amarnath Panjikar, Elvis Gomes, and Sanjeev Naik also spoke on the occasion.
