A rider was killed while a pillion rider was seriously injured when their motorcycle was struck by an unidentified vehicle near the Sanjivani sugar factory, Usgao, in the wee hours of Thursday.
The accident occurred at around 5 am when Mahmadarif Hussainbasha Momin (28), a native of Karnataka but residing at Bhumikanagar-Usgao, was returning home after attending a friend's birthday party. Rohit Nicholas Kujar (20), a native of Jharkhand but residing at Bhumikanagar-Usgao, was a pillion rider.
An unidentified vehicle struck the motorcycle and Momin died on the spot, while Kujar was seriously injured in the mishap and has been admitted at the GMC Hospital in Bambolim. Momin purchased the two-wheeler a few days ago and leaves behind his wife and their 2-month son.
