One person was killed while another was seriously hurt in a self-accident near the Satran Chicolna-Bogmalo Road on Thursday.
The accident occurred when Rounak Kumar (26) lost control of a motorcycle and veered off the road, plunging into a 3-metre deep low-lying area. Kumar and the pillion rider, Neeraj Kumar Shah (32), both residents of Verna and natives of Bihar, were injured in the mishap.
Both were rushed to SDH Chicalim, where the rider, Rounak Kumar, was declared as brought dead. The pillion rider, Neeraj Kumar Shah, sustained serious injuries and was referred to GMC Hospital for further medical treatment.
The body has been preserved at the SDH Margao Morgue for medico-legal formalities. Vasco Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNS Act. Further investigations are being conducted by Vasco PSI Plato Carvalho under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
