PANAJI: Panaji police arrested 23 people for participating in a card gambling game, specifically “Rummy,” during a raid at the Panaji Municipal Market on Monday. A total of Rs 1,26,630 in cash and various gambling items were seized as evidence.
“A case has been registered at Panaji Police Station under Crime No. 157/2024, applying Sections 3 and 4 of the Gambling Act, along with Section 112(2) of BNS-2023, against those involved. These laws are designed to prevent illegal gambling and maintain public order, reflecting Goa Police’s commitment to enforcing the law and deterring illicit activities,” said Superintendent of Police (North), Akshat Kaushal.
